We’ve experience significant growth over the last few years, and so we’re now on the hunt for an experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our Commercial team based at our Cardiff HQ.

Whether it’s to breathe life into a dated office block with a CAT A refurbishment or the construction of new building developments, you will manage projects from both public and private sectors ranging from £1M to £25M+.

What you’ll do:

  • Demonstrate collaborative and partnering behaviours to provide exemplary customer service
  • Liaise and collaborate with our construction and design teams in all aspects of contractual activities
  • Take ownership for maximising commercial results for allocated projects
  • Ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project/claim
  • Prepare the cost / value reconciliation reports accurately and in accordance with company procedure
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company
  • Prepare in conjunction with senior management and agree final account with client`s representative
  • Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins
  • Ensure subcontract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and / or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals
  • Maintain control of sub contractor`s accounts and minimise the cost of any variations
  • Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence
  • Administer the subcontract procurement process
  • Sign agreements up to POA level
  • Undertake the valuation and final account process
  • Provide and monitor cash flow projections
  • Provide commercial information for monthly reports
  • Manage the resolution of disputes above an agreed level
  • Prepare subcontract valuation payments
  • Provide feedback on subcontract performance
  • Comply with monthly reporting cycle
  • Engage in and provide commercial information for objective point review meetings
  • Ensure that the projects adhere to the financial rules of reporting
  • Manage performance management issues
  • Be a mentor for direct reports and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders

What you’ll have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the construction industry
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
  • Experience of leading schemes through two-stage procurement and pre-construction phases as well as delivery in construction.
  • A proactive approach to managing own workload
  • Effective time management, planning and organisational skills to deliver in a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy

We’ve experienced significant growth over the last few years, so we’re now on the hunt for a dynamic Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based at our Cardiff HQ.

What you’ll do:

  • Accounts payable – process purchase invoices, compile monthly supplier run, reconcile supplier statements
  • Accounts receivable – raise client invoices, chase payments
  • Weekly wages – compile weekly wages for outsourced payroll
  • Expense processing and credit card expense reconciliation
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Support balance sheet reconciliation
  • Support with the introduction of new accounting software, systems and processes
  • Help support the wider finance function as required

What you’ll have:

  • Part qualified Management Accountant (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA))
  • Experience of working with Sage Accounting software (beneficial)
  • Experience of working with Sage Sicon software (ideal)
  • Construction industry scheme knowledge (ideal)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel
  • A proactive approach to managing own workload
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines
  • Confidence to challenge current processes
  • Effective team player with good communication skills
