WRU Players' Lounge Design, Fit Out & Furniture

We were appointed by the WRU and Principality Stadium to undertake the refurbishment of the bar and function room for former Welsh rugby players.

The space would become an International Players’ Lounge catering for a wide age group. It needed to be an adaptable and flexible space, used for large corporate events, smaller business lunches and as a more informal meeting place for the players.

The features and finishes needed to be robust and durable because the space was going to be used on a regular basis by varying numbers of people. Exposed air conditioning units and ducting on the ceiling weren’t being replaced, so a solution had to be found to incorporate them into the new design.

The new refurbishment included all-new LED lighting, which now met new energy efficiency requirements. A creative solution was adopted to stop the unsightly air conditioning units and ceiling ducting from affecting the stylish new design. All of the units and ducts were spray painted black to “hide” them from view. A simple but effective answer to the problem.

Project Duration: 3 months
Contract Value: £200,000
Floor Area: 300 m2

The room presented a whole raft of difficulties from the shape of it, the fact that it is subterranean and therefore has no windows to the restrictions of height. The end result is a room that has been transformed to feel very relaxing and very comfortable. It has now become our highest class room in the building and we are very proud of the result.
