In our regular series of blogs, we highlight the Paramount People who help us deliver fantastic office fit out projects for clients across the UK.
Today, we’re following a day in the life of our Financial Controller, Emma Thomas.
What do you do at Paramount?
I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function within Paramount.
This includes everything from paying suppliers to financial reporting at the end of the month.
Talk us through a recent day: How did it start?
My day varies depending on various factors. Sometimes it is based on urgent queries that have been left for me in my absence, other times it can be payroll, monthly reporting or VAT.
We don’t work on specific projects in the finance department, we are responsible for invoicing and payment to suppliers for each and every contract.
I normally have a to-do list and if there is no other factor this is my starting point – it normally extends as the day continues.
What was the highlight of the day?
Balancing our accounts, I am very particular about this!
What’s been your proudest moment at Paramount?
Stepping up from Finance Assistant to Financial Controller, it came with a lot more responsibility and I am enjoying the challenge.
Tell us something we might not know about you.
I have competed in three women’s rugby matches for charity, it was the most rewarding and body-bruising thing I have done!
Who would play you in Paramount: The Movie?
There was too much choice for me to answer.
I passed the question over to my colleague Stevie. She came up with Helen McCrory who played Polly Shelby in Peaky Blinders.
I wasn’t brave enough to ask for the reasoning!
