Meet the Experts at Design Assembly South Wales

On Friday, November 10th, we were proud to co-host Design Assembly South Wales with Edge Design.

Combining RIBA-certified CPD presentations from renowned professionals with the chance to mix and mingle with experts in the world of commercial interiors and office design, it proved to be a successful, insightful and entertaining morning.

We’ve already summarised the presentations on the day from Dan Rossiter, Martin Kessell and Oliver Heath.

But we also thought we’d give anyone who couldn’t make it on the day an opportunity to see the expertise that was on offer from the businesses that exhibited.

Ecophon: A sound effect on people

Part of the global Saint-Gobain Group, Ecophon develop and manufacture acoustic products and systems.

Martin Keogh and Matthew Davies were on hand to answer anyone’s questions relating to how a building should “sound”.

Ecophon offers specific acoustic solutions for the ways that different parts of an office space might be used.

Acoustic ceiling panels stop speech and other sounds spreading.

Free-hanging panels not only absorb sound but also make an impressive design statement.

Sound absorbing screens create zones in open plan offices.

Sound-insulating walls and vertical applications can be designed to create artistic installations.

Edge Design: Modern working environments - Where next?

Edge Design creates seating, meeting, breakout space and co-working office furniture.

Robert Wass presented a selection of their furniture for people to use whilst talking about the future use of furniture in working environments.

Designed by young British designer Lydia Addison the contemporary styles and three back heights of ‘Me, Myself & I’ proved popular.

Designed in-house, the Natta range can be used in a number of ways, providing comfortably stylish seating for meeting or breakout spaces.

The Edge Design philosophy is based on combining good design with functional solutions for agile and co-working spaces.

At Paramount, we look forward to working with Edge on future projects.

Cadspec: Modern working environments - The Virtual Office

We were lucky enough to have the expert assistance of CAD/BIM solutions specialists, Cadspec, to give visitors a virtual glimpse into one of our office designs.

As you can see, people were more than willing to take the opportunity to don an Oculus Rift headset!

While it was a lot of fun, Jason Isherwood and Roy Meaden were able to show how this interactive approach to office design can help clients envisage how a final design might look.

Rather than using their imagination, they can actually take a walk through it!

We certainly see it as an important part of the future of office design.

Tektura: Wallcoverings - more than meets the eye

Specialists in wallcoverings, Tektura work with manufacturers, designers and architects to create beautiful interiors.

With a firm belief that wallcovering can transform a space, they’re dedicated to delivering results that look great.

Sarah Prakel showcased a selection of Tektura’s latest launches and digital designs, available as wallcoverings, window films or acrylic artworks, including Elli Popp.

In-keeping with Oliver Heath’s presentation, this design is firmly rooted in nature, influenced by jungles, woodland glades, mythical lands and ancient wonders.

They also featured some of the designs highlighted in their wallcovering trends blog, including everything from Art Deco and modern geometrics to tactile textures and natural surfaces.

Panaz Fabrics: When is fabric more than fabric?

One of Europe's leading suppliers of decorative fabrics and wallcoverings, Panaz focus on combining aesthetics with durability and safety.

Emma Raybould was adamant that, while Panaz fabrics were designed to look good, it was just as important to ensure that they worked effectively within their environment.

Their fire retardant, anti-microbial, stain resistant and waterproof technologies mean that there’s a fabric solution for any use.

On the day, they featured some of their new ranges, including;

  • Artemis, their 2017 signature collection
  • Marna, their new high-performance upholstery

We’d just like to thank all of our experts for sharing their knowledge at the first Design Assembly South Wales.
