Welcome to Topland Group's Capital Tower

Topland Group is one of Europe’s largest multi-billion pound, privately owned international investment groups with a portfolio of over 165 properties.

One of their projects in the UK is Capital Tower, Cardiff’s tallest office building. Having previously undertaken the refurbishments of a number of the floors there, we were tasked with designing and fitting out the ground floor of the building. This included the front-of-house reception area, a new coffee shop and a variety of meeting spaces. With a number of complex fit-out elements happening, sometimes at the same time, the existing reception had to remain operational for both tenants and visitors to the building.

Impressive First Impressions

The coffee shop provides both tenants of the building and members of the public somewhere for ‘grab & go’ drinks and snacks.

A major part of the work in the reception area included removing the existing revolving door and side screens and installing a new frontage. The improved frontage included a smaller, more efficient entrance way, creating more space in the lobby.

New card-operated speed gates were installed to record occupancy levels and improve the visitor journey from the entrance to the lifts.

Mainly white but with splashes of the Capital Tower colours, the reception space was designed to be bright, inviting and professional. Sympathetic free-standing lighting and artworks by Cardiff artist Julia Brooker complete the effect.

If meeting rooms aren’t available on the various floors of the tower, the office furniture featured in the ground floor reception and coffee shop offer alternative spaces. ‘One-to-one’ areas and high-back meeting pods were included to offer different settings for meetings.
