Welcome to boom and gorilla!

Boom Cymru and Gorilla Post Production had separate offices on opposite sides of Cardiff. Both part of the Twofour Group, they were coming to new offices at the Gloworks new creative industries centre in Porth Teigr, Cardiff Bay. We were asked to commence the office fit out and office design of this new space for them.

While Boom create content for TV shows of all kinds, from children’s programmes and drama, to factual shows and live events, Gorilla are a full service post production house specialising in broadcast media and film. They both had very specific requirements for the spaces that they would work in. Boom were moving from an open plan office that was basic and uninspiring. They wanted somewhere that could allow their teams to collaborate more effectively.

Gorilla were coming from an already impressive office space and wanted to retain the boutique feel that their editing suites currently had. Since their facilities were used by external clients, it needed to be comfortable and welcoming as well as creative and stylish.

Their new offices were initially open plan and hadn’t been designed for audio and visual production. As a result, the space needed to be separated into soundproof editing and dub suites, which also required their own ventilation to make them comfortable spaces to work in. As well as being fit for purpose, the work environment also needed to look impressive and meet the required budget.

brand identity

To reinforce Gorilla’s brand identity in the space, an artist was commissioned to hand-paint a G in the company’s recognisable font on the wall of their reception. To say that they had a steady hand would be an understatement!
Overall, the offices, suites and breakout spaces for Boom and Gorilla had to offer a professional, creative, stylish environment for their clients and staff to work in productively and comfortably.
