WORLDWIDEWORKPLACES – TREND MICRO (LAUCK GROUP)

WorldWideWorkplaces is where we take a look at some of the best examples of office design from across the globe.

TREND MICRO – CALIFORNIA

When the cyber security company, Trend Micro, recently moved offices, they worked with lauckgroup and OMNIPLAN architects, to create a space that reflected their brand and the importance they place on collaboration and community.

In order to showcase its collaborative culture, the working environment features open, office-style benching with flexible and activity-based working environments throughout.

There are plenty of huddle spaces and meeting rooms for employees to work from, depending on their personal preference.

With a working culture that's renowned for emphasising the importance of wellness in the workplace, Trend Micro's offices offer a variety of cafes, game rooms, and executive briefing centres which encourage better employee communication.

As Trend Micro is a large corporation, they wanted to ensure there was a sense of brand continuity throughout all of their offices.

With this in mind, the designers used similar palettes and materials to ensure a sense of fluidity and familiarity across Trend Micro’s other locations.

In terms of colour palette, the office features a relatively neutral palette of greys and whites.

The honey-coloured maple wood floors add warmth to the workspace with expansive windows to make the most of the Californian sun.

When employees moved to the new offices, one of the biggest challenges was adjusting to a new working style.

Workstations were downsized, but careful consideration of office furniture throughout the fit out stage meant that the new environment is actually far more employee friendly.

The new sit-to-stand desks give employees more flexibility in terms of how they work, while dividers offer privacy and give staff ownership over their own space.

While workstations were downsized, extra amenities in the new office help to combat the loss of space.

Huddle spaces, phone rooms, patios and even a break zone with an outdoor-seating arrangement encourage employees to move away from their desks and collaborate with one another.
