Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 Part 2
The design team at Paramount always look forward to Clerkenwell Design Week. As office design specialists, we understandably like to keep on top of the latest trends.
We’ve already seen Helen’s experience of CDW17, now it’s over to Jon and Rachel for their thoughts
Jon’s Clerkenwell Experience
As ever, Clerkenwell provided a wealth of inspiration. The sheer volume of products and businesses on offer were such that the Cubbi from Connection provided some much-needed rest!
But, for me, one particular product stood out.
The ‘kitchen table’ concept, a large table where people can come together to meet, eat or hot-desk, has been popular for some time now with many suppliers.
Some of these early solutions were fairly corporate in their finish and detailing. Essentially larger, longer versions of white laminate meeting tables.
Frovi, one of the office furniture manufacturers that we partner with, has created their own version.
Their ‘Relic’ range has a sturdy, raw, warehouse feel to it, combining distressed-effect tops with galvanised trestle-style framing.
The range also continues the eclectic trend for combining bench seating, stools and chairs with the main table.
It’s a great way to get people together in the workplace and gives the social “kitchen table” concept a stylish new twist.

Pastels, Pales, Pleather and Pattern
This year, Clerkenwell Design Week offered the above in abundance with pastels and pales seemingly right for this time of year and the sudden heat wave (at least while we were there!).
The softer approach creates a lovely calming effect, ideal for a sometimes manic workplace.
Pleather is as good as leather these days, creating a sense of class in an interior world gone mad for the raw and industrial look.
And finally, plenty of pattern is proving it doesn’t have to all be about function and minimalism. It’s ok to go for it and remain both corporate and professional.
Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 proved to be another inspiring year for Paramount’s design team.
As ever, we’ll keep you up to date on the latest trends in workplace design and if you want to talk about how you can implement them in your office, get in touch today.
